ABOUT ABOUT

We are so excited to welcome you back to Madison, Wisconsin for a fun and safe weekend of dancing!

We will be holding the competition in a spectator gymnasium (normal capacity 1200) with loads of room for social distancing. Competitors and spectators will also have sole access to the cafeteria/commons area directly in front of the gym.

We are a ScotDance USA pilot costume change competition! As such, dancers may leave the site to change (the host hotel is only 5 minutes away!) or elect to have a dedicated changing time in one of the two locker rooms (2600 sq f and 2300 sq f) More information, including timings will be sent directly when we have a better indication of dancer numbers.

Our workshop on Sunday will be limited to 12 dancers (3,500 sq f professional studio) per session.

Competition Rules

  • The competition will be conducted according to RSOBHD rules. The judge’s decision is final.
  • Age groups will be determined according to the number of entries. All competitors’ ages are determined as of the day of the competition: 10/23/21
  • Dancers must produce a valid 2021 RSOBHD card.
  • Dancers entering first will dance last.
  • Dancers must be ready and appear when called or forfeit the chance to dance in that event.
  • Dancers must be in costume to receive awards.
  • Medals will be awarded in all categories. Funding permitting, cash prizes may be awarded to Premier dancers in lieu of medals at the discretion of the organizers.
  • The Capital City Dance Competition organizers reserve the right to add or remove events from the schedule and to make other changes as long as its’ action is within the scope of the RSOBHD rules.
  • Costume changing will be available onsite or dancers may elect to go offsite (there will be time scheduled for this). Dancers staying onsite to change will be allotted a time slot and this will be strictly enforced to limit access to changing rooms and maintain social distancing.
  • It is the dancer’s responsibility to abide by the 3-month rule (may not have taken any classes, “on-line” lessons, workshops, etc. with the judge for the event).
  • We will have a specified (and separate) entrance and exit to the main school building: all additional information will be emailed to participants prior to the event!

ScotDanceUSA COVID-19 Rules:

  • Dancers must arrive in costume, completed hair, and make-up.
  • Pre-Premier cards will be collected in a box and returned at the end of the competition.
  • Socially distanced, designated spaces will be available for dancers/family members.
  • Dancers, volunteers, and spectators at SDUSA competitions must comply with state and local guidelines for mask wearing. Dancers may wear a mask when entering the competition stage. They may remove their mask and place it in a paper bag at the back of the competition stage or opt to compete while wearing a mask.
  • Extra masks will be made available by the organizer and sanitizer stations will be available throughout the venue.
  • A paper bag with handles will be provided by the organizer upon arrival for holding the dancer’s mask while on the platform, if needed.
  • Every individual that enters the event will need to sign SDUSA’s “Day of Competition Waiver”. This form indicates the individual is not ill or experiencing COVID symptoms. This is the 1st of 2 forms required. The other required form is the “Assumption of Risk Waiver” (adult and child versions). A positive answer to any of the symptom questions, regardless of the cause, will result in being denied entry to the competition. If a parent/dancer/family member is ill, he/she should not attend a SDUSA event. Signed copies will be retained for one year.
  • Only one dancer may register at a time. All attendees must practice social distancing while waiting in line in accordance with state and local guidelines.
  • The competition stage will not be available for warm-up. Dancer warm-up may occur in either the designated family space or a socially distanced area outside the event perimeter.
  • Water will not be available; all dancers must provide their own water.
  • Awards may be placed in a bag with the dancer’s name and available for pickup at the awards table along with dancers’ Pre-Premier cards.
  • Trophy winners may be awarded on stage.
  • Mask wearing: it is the parents’ responsibility to ensure that their unvaccinated children are protected by wearing a mask and practicing social distancing, especially if the child is under the age of 12 years.
  • Please have a mask available to use for crowded indoor venues. If you feel more comfortable wearing a mask, especially if you are not vaccinated, please do so even if state and local guidelines do not require it.

If a spectator or participant tests positive after attending the competition, please notify the competition organizer:  [email protected] and SDUSA:  [email protected]
